About Me
My name is Ginger, and I would love to be a companion on your healing journey.
I was born and raised in the city of Detroit. While my single mother worked to keep me and my brother cared for, I spent most of my time with my grandparents. My grandfather was a D.O. and was the source of my first education in holistic medicine. But it was caring for my grandmama that gave me my first hands-on healing opportunity. One summer she had a brutal surgery on her foot. It was a long recovery for her, and she asked me to massage her feet, to help her feel better. Once a day I would massage her feet and legs, and watch as that small bit of extra care helped ease her pain.
Many years later, I found myself a bit lost. I had many jobs over the years and nothing felt genuinely fulfilling. I was working as a Chiropractic Assistant, and I could say that it was easily my favorite job that I had ever had, but still was not quite right. And after the birth of my son, I was feeling in need of a change in my professional life. It was reflecting on my journey, that I then recalled how much I truly loved helping my grandmama that one summer. After that I enrolled at Irene’s Myomassology Institute. I had never had a professional massage for myself, but I could say with certainty that it was what I wanted to do. By the first week of class, I was hooked. I had found my passion.
At Irene’s I studied many modalities, including Swedish, Thai, Orthopedic, Sports, Prenatal and Infant massage. I found out I was pregnant just a few months into my education, which is likely why I have a very special place in my heart for prenatal massage. I completed my education just in time to walk across the stage with my two week old daughter.
I love watching my clients heal, through the work we do together. I believe that massage is more than just soothing aching muscles or improving joint function. It is about getting in touch with your own body, and learning to listen to the subtle cues that our bodies use to communicate with us. Massage is about releasing the stress that holds us back in our day to day lives. I love helping clients on their journey to wellness.
In the summer time I can be found at the local Renaissance festivals offering massages in costume, because I am also,... and very importantly, A GIANT NERD.
Peace and Love my friends.
